24Bottles is now a Certified B Corporation

12 Apr 2020

We’re proud to announce that 24Bottles is now a certified B Corporation, and we’re happy to share this achievement with our beloved community.

Since its establishment back in 2013, we always wanted 24Bottles to be a company able to drive a positive change.

As stated on the B Corp website “Certified B Companies are a new kind of business that balances purpose and profit. […] a global movement of people using businesses as a force for good.

At 24Bottles we know that our commitment can make a difference, especially in times like these. Our Planet Earth is sending us unmistakable, warning signs. This requires us to consider the impact of our decisions on the environment as well as on workers, customers, suppliers and our communities.

What is a B Corp?

A B Corp, also known as a Certified B Corporation, is a company that has achieved specific high standards. The non-profit B Lab, which certifies the B Corp, sets those standards.

The B Corp criteria include checked social and environmental efficiency of a company, its effect on its workers and consumers, its accountability to the public.
When a corporation is rated B Corp, it must amend its legal governing documents to ensure that its board of directors balances profit and purpose.

B Corps have chosen to become part of a change in global culture towards the idea of business as a force for good. They’re redefining “success” by using income and development as means to a more significant cause. Also, they’re pledging to help create a more prosperous, sustainable economy.

What does it mean being Certified B Corp for 24Bottles?

Our business aims to save our home planet through a positive environmental and social impact.

We firmly believe that revenues and business must be on the same level as value-driven, social and environmental commitment.

Therefore, we choose our partners, workers and suppliers carefully. We ask them to share our values and our way of doing business.

What about the future?

We did not set our sights on the B Corp Certification as the final goal. We believe that this achievement is just the beginning. This is not the finish line, as our next mission is always moved forward.

We care about the planet, but we also care about people. 24Bottles is a brand made of men and women working every day to drive a positive change, envisioning a better and greener future for the generations to come.

Every day, we’re building it. Today, for tomorrow.

We’re just trying to make it easier for our community, with a bit of style: #startwithabottle

The opportunity for this partnership came in conjunction with the extraordinary opening of the first SOU‧SOU store in Taiwan.

To frame this highly anticipated event was Eslite R79, where the Kyoto SOU‧SOU store was completely re-created.
The style of the Eslite R79 store was adapted to match the Japanese brand’s style.
Shop windows were covered with authentic patterns so that fans can get to know SOU‧SOU at close range.

At 24Bottles, we’re thrilled to be working with SOU‧SOU because we love the brand’s unique patterns and history.

About SOU‧SOU Kyoto

SOU · SOU was founded in 2002 by textile designer Katsuji Wakisaka, architect Hisanobu Tsujimura and producer Takeshi Wakabayashi.

Childlike motifs and bright colours are the brand’s emblem, designed in Kyoto, with a nod to the evolving seasons’ beauty.

With SOU · SOU, a contemporary and vibrant Japanese aesthetic is emerging in Kyoto, reminiscent of the former Japanese capital’s vitality.

SOU‧SOU hopes to revive traditional Japanese craftsmanship through design.

The aim of SOU‧SOU Kyoto as a brand is to “[create] a new interpretation of Japanese culture based on Japanese tradition.”

Instead of reproducing patterns from ancient kimonos on shirts and bags, SOU‧SOU Kyoto designers re-examine what is appealing about traditional Japanese models and then use that understanding to produce something fresh.

The SOU · SOU show at Eslite R79, has been combined with the print “Ten numbers”, the pattern chosen to dress one of the two Urban Bottles of the SOU · SOU x 24Bottles collaboration.

The print was also used to create a beautiful digital wall and an exclusive exhibition of 80 designers’ original paintings, to feel Kyoto’s beauty under the nib of the designer.

24Bottles at Florence Rocks: how did it work?

24Bottles provided Live Nation with a unique, exclusive edition Urban Bottle personalized with Firenze Rocks’ logo.Live Nation gave the bottles to the crew, more than a thousand people, to let them hydrate while working at the festival under the Italian summer sun and scorching temperatures.

Everywhere in the backstage area, crew and staff could find to refill their 24Bottles to reduce the single-use plastic consumption involved in big events.

Not only staff and crew but also all the artists of the festival’s lineup were given a reusable stainless steel bottle!

The likes of Fiend, Badflower, Skindred, Dream Theater, The Smashing Pumpkins, Tool, Matt Simons, Zara Larsson, Snow Patrol, Ed Sheeran, Jameson Burt, The Amazons, The Struts, Nothing But Thieves, Glen Hansard, Eddie Vedder, Siberia, Balthazar, Editors, Sum 41 and The Cure received personalized bottles to keep hydrated during their shows at Firenze Rocks.

And what about concertgoers?

People attending the festival was invited by Live Nation to collect all the single-use plastic during their stay at the venue and help the organization in the recycling process. As a reward for their help, people were given a limited edition Firenze Rocks pin and a coupon to buy their favourite 24Bottles.

That’s not all!

Recycling is only the first step toward sustainability. That’s why 24Bottles was there to raise awareness of plastic pollution and help people reducing the use.

We interviewed concertgoers with a live quiz on plastic pollution and spread the word on how a reusable bottle could start a big change for everyone.
