24Bottles and Elena Salmistraro for Malala Fund. Design meets charity.

24Bottles and Elena Salmistraro have teamed up during Milan Design Week 2019 to create a brand-new collection designed to support Malala Fund.

24Bottles and Elena Salmistraro

24Bottles and Elena Salmistraro have teamed up to create a brand-new collection, launched during Milan Design Week 2019, designed to raise awareness on girls’ education (andsustainability), linked to a giving back project supporting Malala Fund.

Along with the young, talented Milanese designer we’ve given life to a poetic project, suspended between the earthly and the divine, narrating the indissoluble relationship between man and nature.

Elena Salmistraro’s graphic art decorates the steel of 24Bottles and tells two different stories, forming the background to two major and interconnected subjects: altruism and the protection of women.

Śakra Urban Bottle and the Moon Rabbit legend (Tsuki no Usagi)

The graphic on Sàkra Urban Bottle is a story in pictures from Elena Salmistraro’s point of view. The artist chose to represent the famous oriental legend of the Moon Rabbit, that revolves around the theme of altruism.
According to the Buddhist Jataka tales, the story sees as the lead characters a brave and generous rabbit, alongside with the ruler of the Trāyastriṃśa Heaven.

“Many years ago, the Old Man of the Moon decided to visit the Earth. He disguised himself as a beggar and asked Fox (Kitsune), Monkey (Saru), and Rabbit (Usagi) for some food.
Monkey climbed a tree and brought him some fruit. Fox went to a stream, caught a fish, and brought it back to him. But Rabbit had nothing to offer him but some grass. So he asked the beggar to build a fire. After the beggar started the fire, Rabbit jumped into it and offered himself as a meal for the beggar to eat.
Quickly the beggar changed back into the Old Man of the Moon and pulled Rabbit from the fire. He said “You are most kind, Rabbit, but don’t do anything to harm yourself. Since you were the kindest of all to me, I’ll take you back to the moon to live with me.”
The Old Man carried Rabbit in his arms back to the moon and he is still there to this very day exactly where the Old Man left him. Just look at the moon in the night sky and the rabbit is there!”

Diana Clima Bottle and the power of women

The influence that guided Elena Salmistraro for Diana Clima Bottle’s graphics derives from the Latin mythology.
Diana is the protecting divinity of women, guardian of springs, streams and wild animals, who accompanied by nymphs frequented woods, mountains and fresh clearings with her mystical aura.

24Bottles and the University of Rome Tor Vergata: find out more on the project “Goccia” Goal One for Climate Change

24Bottles and the University of Rome Tor Vergata

The University of Rome Tor Vergata chose 24Bottles for the project “Goccia” Goal One – to promote Climate Change awareness to reduce the use of plastic bottled water throughout the campus.

14.000 disposable plastic bottles saved!

The overall idea revolves around a few, simple steps that allowed the University of Rome Tor Vergata to cut already 14 thousand plastic bottles in only two weeks since the project started.
We at 24Bottles are proud to have helped them achieve this remarkable goal with our carbon neutral reusable water bottles.

The Project Work “Goccia” came about thanks to two students of the MARIS Master at University of Rome Tor Vergata.
Vincenzo Ludovici Pietropaoli and Marco Uttaro created “Goccia” by taking up a best practice of the Network of Universities for Sustainable Development (RUS) for the reduction of plastic in Italian universities.
The two students integrated the best practices with analytical chemistry analysis in the new Laboratory of the Department of Chemical Sciences and Technologies, called “LabCap“, ISO 9001 Certificate which will guarantee university users the high quality of the water supplied by the installed water fountains and chillers.
Moreover, the water will be periodically subjected to laboratory analysis by LabCap whose results will be published on the website.

Vivienne Westwood and 24Bottles release special edition Gaia Clima Bottle on World Water Day to raise awareness of the effects of climate change

24Bottles and Vivienne Westwood

Vivienne Westwood and 24Bottles have teamed up again to create the brand-new special edition re-usable Gaia Clima Bottle, designed to raise awareness of the effects of climate change and the future of our planet.

Gaia Clima Bottle is launched on 22nd March 2019 to mark World Water Day, a date used to advocate for the sustainable management of freshwater resources, from sewage entering drinking water to the endless plastic waste pouring into river systems around the world.

Vivienne Westwood and climate change

The design of special edition Gaia Clima Bottle features Vivienne Westwood’s hand-written message; ‘Gaia! – the only one for me’.
The world-famous British designer has always been outspoken about environmental issues. The encounter with James Lovelock and his theories has lead Vivienne Westwood to raise awareness on climate change – and its effects – in the fashion industry.
James Lovelock is the scientist, environmentalist, and futurist behind the Gaia Theory, which postulates that the Earth functions as a self-regulating system.

The Gaia Theory

“The Gaia Theory (James Lovelock) is as revolutionary as the theories of Einstein or Darwin; indeed it is a more complete theory of evolution.
It has changed our perception of the world – and this will change our behaviour. Gaia is the name the Greeks gave the earth goddess, and Lovelock chose it because of his insight that the earth is alive; Gaia and her life-forms have evolved together in a self-regulation system, and together they create the atmosphere which keeps her cool.
If this harmony is broken then Gaia can no longer sustain or tolerate those same life forms; she, herself, will find a new equilibrium by moving to a hot state.”
– Vivienne Westwood

‘Gaia! – the only one for me’

The new design of Clima Bottle features Vivienne Westwood’s hand-written message; ‘Gaia! – the only one for me’.
The 24Bottles Clima Bottle promotes a zero-waste alternative to the disposable plastic bottles, saving 0,08kg of C02 from the atmosphere each time the bottle is used.
Designed with a matt white finish the bottle is made from a revolutionary stainless steel – able to insulate hot liquid for up to 12 hours, and cold for 24 hours.

5 morning tips to start the day on the right foot

25 Oct 2017

Someone loves it, most of the people don’t. It is morning we’re talking about.
Let’s see what we can do to start managing all this sudden sunlight beaming into our pupils all at once with these 5 simple morning tips:
Take your time
Try not to rush to your smartphone as soon as you open your eyes. Notifications from social channels can and will wait until you’re 100% back onto this world. Teleporting yourself right from your bed sheets to your organizer sheets while you’re still wearing your pyjamas on, will not help you save time as well. On the contrary, it would keep your stress level high all day. Try a starting with a pause approach instead. Take some minute for yourself before connecting to the rest of the world. Have your shower, make a nice warm cup of tea or coffee to wake up and try to keep your mind free. It will help you see things from a different, chilled perspective, keeping you calm and focused until you’re ready to be back to sleep with a big smile on your face at the end of the day.

Drink water
Well, you’re not surprised. But, drinking a good glass of water first thing in the morning has actually so many pros and so little cons (like 0 cons, actually) that you should do this without even thinking. It’s healthy, refreshing and it’s a matter of pure logic as well: you wouldn’t have stayed 8 hours without touching water if you were awake…

Move your body
Stretching feels so good we start doing it automatically as we wake up. It refreshes our circulation and squeezes muscles in order to enrich the oxygen in our blood flow. So, do some more stretches before leaving the bedroom. Also, whether you’re going to spend your day at the desk or rushing tirelessly from one place to the other for the whole day, stretch your muscles any time you feel tense to keep them flexible and strong. It’s always a good time to aim at your tiptoes!

Have breakfast
Throughout the world, there are many different perspectives and cultural differences regarding breakfast. Some people prefer sweet tastes, others prefer savoury tastes; some go continental while others go intercontinental. In Italy, we usually keep it simple with pasta e cappuccino (in Italian, “pasta” is a common word to refer to croissants) while having some small talks with the bartender and other bystanders by the counter. Apart from this, it is a fact that having an empty stomach puts you in a bad mood for the day, so, eat a fruit at least.

Get out, you’re late for work!
Really! Refill your water bottle, grab your jacket and daypack and get out! You are late!

24Bottles x Vivienne Westowood: Launch party

25 Oct 2017

A Charming Night in the Heart of Milan

Lounge music, fancy people and all-things-gold were the main ingredients of the exclusive cocktail party we set up in October to celebrate our fresh collaboration with Vivienne Westwood. Centre stage was reserved for the party star: the special edition Clima Bottle 24Bottles x Vivienne Westwood, around which our guests strolled and chatted with each other in a glamorous and sophisticated atmosphere. The golden bottles were carefully placed all around the store in wooden structures, from the store’s windows enrich an already luxurious ambience. Tailor-made drinks were served in stainless steel Party Cups in order to ensure a stylish while zero-waste event. The event went viral as soon as the guests started reaching for the “golden booth” to take selfies with the gilded bottle.
The Climate Revolution has officially started!

Clima: a reusable insulated bottle like no other

25 Oct 2017

Since we started this adventure called 24Bottles, we have been cultivating the idea of creating the most beautiful stainless steel water bottles we could imagine.
We wanted to emancipate the good old “canteen” from the domain of the outdoors, rework the concept at its heart and make it suitable and convenient for the modern life in the city. Our research for the perfect design led us to the creation of the Urban Bottle. Clima Bottle emerges as its natural evolution.
We wanted to give our bottles a unique silhouette, both comfortable and fancy, merging functionality and beauty, with the purpose of urging more and more people to forget about plastic bottles and go reusable.
Thanks to its enhanced insulating performance, balanced with a restrained weight for maximum portability, we are confident that the new line of Clima Bottles will empower more and more people to ditch plastic bottles and go for a reusable solution to take care of one’s own daily hydration.
Enjoy exploring all the features of the brand new Clima Bottle in this colourful video:

Clima is the Italian word for “climate” which, nowadays, has to be considered one of the world’s main concerns.
